This work explores the possibility of a more active and interpretive role for the audience of VR experiences. The work is a drawing made using a Kinect sensor which depicts hands trying to form the shape of an eye. The resulting animated drawing shows the connection between the hand and the eye as a crucial part of the drawing process. It also draws attention to the particular relationship we have with drawn images. Hogarth describes how to see a line is to trace the movement with the eye, as if imagining the actions that caused its creation. This ‘felt’ quality is presented as an alternative to the more dominant photographic approaches to creating VR experiences.
