Bodega No. 2 (Apple and Bananas)

Bodega No. 2 still

Medium: Screen recording, 3D scanner and custom code

This drawing is from a series examining our relationship with virtual space. It asks how the haptic quality of drawing might bridge the gap between the mechanics of vision and the felt experience of seeing. Rather than turn to optics, alternative descriptions of seeing are considered including the ‘extramissonist’ vision of Ancient Greece. This imagines rays emanating from the eyes and touching objects, not unlike the infra-red light from a 3D scanner. The ambiguous quality of lines and drawing offer an alternative to dominant conceptions of virtual space, one that may bear closer relation to our actual experience of seeing.
